02/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 2 April, MEPs from the European Parliament's Committees on Legal Affairs (JURI) and Civil Liberties (LIBE) approved, by 49 votes to 7, the partial agreement reached between representatives of Parliament and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU (see EUROPE 12207/9) on the ‘Justice' programme for 2021-2027 aimed at promoting the establishment of a European area of justice based on mutual trust (see EUROPE 12030/12). The budgetary aspects still need to be settled during the horizontal negotiations on the multiannual financial framework for 2021–2027. MEPs also suggested a financial appropriation of €356 million at current prices, compared to the €305 million proposed by the Commission. (MF)
