21/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched a public consultation on Wednesday 20 February for preparers and users of non-financial information on companies reporting on climate-related information. As indicated in its Action plan on Sustainable Finance (see EUROPE 11977), the Commission plans to update its non-binding guidelines on non-financial information for 2017 by June. The document, submitted for consultation, proposes ways to assess how climate change can have an impact on companies' financial performance and how companies can have both positive and negative impacts on the climate, the institution explains. It is based on the report published last January by the Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance (see EUROPE 12169). Stakeholders have until 20 March to submit their comments at https://bit.ly/2NgYuYC (MF)
