01/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – Euro area annual inflation reached 1.4% in the Euro area in January, according to a flash estimate by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 1 February. This rate thus marks a decrease of 0.2 points compared to December 2018 (see EUROPE 12174), whereas it was 1.9% in November 2018 (see EUROPE 12161). Among the components of inflation, it should be noted that energy prices are the ones that increased the most between January 2018 and January 2019, by 2.6%. Then follow the prices of food, alcohol and tobacco (+1.8%), services (+1.6%) and non-energy industrial goods (0.3%). (LT)
