Air pollution: France, Sweden and Greece called to order for breach of EU law

Infringement proceedings have been launched against France, Sweden and Greece for non-compliance with European ambient air quality legislation, the European Commission announced on Thursday 24 January.

The Commission criticises these three Member States for failing to take the necessary measures to comply with the limit values for certain pollutants and to reduce overruns in breach of Directive 2008/50/EC. Hence the sending of a letter of formal notice.
