14/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament and the EU Council will meet again to negotiate on the regulation establishing the European Labour Authority on Tuesday 15 January. The issue of the Authority's reconciliation role between Member States (Art. 13) and governance (Art. 18 to 24) will be addressed. The scope of the Regulation, and in particular the Council's proposal to submit a closed list of legislative acts covered by the Regulation, should be addressed again, as well as the justification for a Member State's refusal to participate in a joint inspection - a subject that frustrates Member States considerably (see EUROPE 12168). The next interinstitutional meeting is scheduled for 29 January. Altogether, up to 6 meetings are expected to be held before the negotiations can be completed. (PH)
