Tribunal confirms freezing of Mr Mubarak's assets in 2017 and 2018

The European Union Tribunal confirmed the freezing of the assets of deposed Egyptian President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak for the years 2017 and 2018 in a judgment delivered on Wednesday 12 December (Case T-358/17).

Following the Egyptian revolution in January 2011, the EU Council adopted restrictive measures against Mr Mubarak in March 2011 on the grounds that he is the subject of criminal proceedings in Egypt for embezzlement of public funds (see EUROPE 10341).
