The multilateral organisation sounds the alarm about the rise of protectionism in the world

The annual World Trade Organisation (WTO) Health Check, published on Tuesday 11 December and presented to its members, reveals a substantial increase in trade restrictive measures over the past year, from mid-October 2017 to mid-October 2018. 

This first WTO-wide factual report shows that the value of trade affected by sanctions or other restrictive measures has increased sevenfold since the previous annual exercise, including increases in customs duties, quantitative restrictions,...
