14/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 November, MEPs in plenary session broadly approved (569 votes in favour, 70 against, 36 abstentions) the Interinstitutional Agreement between the former Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament of 30 May last concerning the strengthening of the means given to the national competition authorities (NCAs) (see EUROPE 12030). The Directive in question aims to better combat anti-competitive practices in the European Union, in particular through stronger cooperation between NCAs and the European Commission. On the Council side, while the Member States' ambassadors to the EU ('Coreper') gave their agreement to this text on 20 June last (see EUROPE 12045), the formal green light from the States will be given on 2 December.
