European Parliament's S&D Group says solution to budgetary tension is through budgetary capacity for eurozone

08/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 November, Maria João Rodrigues MEP (S&D, Portugal) told a few journalists that "a pro-European" solution to the budgetary dispute between Italy and its eurozone partners is through the deepening of economic and monetary union.  In her view, the draft Italian budget for 2019 is "not responsible" and at the same time, the Commission's response cannot be just to ask the Italian government to respect the stability and growth pact.  Hence the...
