08/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – Arianespace successfully launched the Metop-C satellite on Tuesday 6 November, from Eumetsat, the European organization responsible for the operation of weather satellites. The satellite was developed in cooperation with the European Space Agency and, using its nine on-board instruments, will be responsible for vertical measurements of temperature and humidity, cloud property, temperature and wind at the surface of seas and oceans. The satellite will significantly improve weather forecasts by up to 10 days, according to Eumetsat. This launch completes and finalizes the constellation of the Eumetsat Polar System (EPS), which includes two other Metop-A and B satellites. (PH)
