Nicolas Dupont-Aignan of the France Arise party released, on Wednesday 24 October, the manifesto from his list "Les Amoureux de la France" for the 2019 European elections.
His political line? He defines it as "patriotic and Eurorealistic". The "lovers of France" propose a new Alliance of European peoples based on a total renegotiation of the current treaties for an "independent France in a transformed European Union".
Here are the main points: - abolish the Schengen agreements; - refuse any further enlargement; - leave NATO; - give the opinions of the supranational advisory courts; - affirm the use of French as the working language within Europe instead of English after Brexit; - impose a referendum for any major decision.
It should be noted that it plans to abolish the European Commission and create, instead, a "lean secretariat under the authority of heads of government", as well as to guarantee a veto right to the five largest EU countries, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland.
The manifesto also proposes to "put an end to Brussels' financial waste in order to give their money back to the French", by immediately recovering 80% of the 9 billion euros that the French pay in "surplus to the European Union".
The site registered around fifty signatories on Wednesday at the end of the day, including the two French MEPs of the Rassemblement national (RN), Philippe Loiseau and Sylvie Goddyn (see EUROPE 12111), but also 17 regional RN or ex-RN advisers.
