'Posted workers' - trade unions condemn complaint by Hungary and Poland before CJEU

05/10/2018 (Agence Europe)In a press release published on Friday 5 October, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) condemned the Hungarian and Polish governments for filing a complaint with the Court of Justice (CJEU) on the revised posted workers directive (see EUROPE 12110)“Two member states are trying to overturn a perfectly legitimate, democratic and properly-taken decision”, deplored Liina Carr, ETUC Confederal Secretary.  In her eyes, the action taken by the two states is no more than the expression of “pure political revenge for a decision they don’t like”.  She added: “We will not stop until this nasty complaint is rejected”.  The ETUC considers the attitude taken by the two governments is “despicable” in that they are questioning the protection of their own nationals.  (PH)
