European Parliament urges Council to move towards a simpler and more flexible VAT regime

Meeting in Strasbourg on Wednesday 3 October, the MEPs adopted three draft reports for opinions concerning the reform of the VAT system. Following several years of negotiations, the three texts in question were the subject of an agreement between the member states on Tuesday, at the Ecofin Council in Luxembourg (see EUROPE 12018).

The objective achieved, that of a large majority in support of these texts in order to send out a strong message to the Council, was welcome to by MEPs.
