03/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On 3 October, the European Parliament published a communique stressing its commitment to tackling bullying and harassment (including sexual harassment) within the institution. It notes that the decision of the bureau dated 2 July entered into force on 1 September, but that a raft of measures requiring regulatory decisions before being applicable was being prepared. The measures include creating a complaints mechanism involving a specialist team of civil servants, who will prepare the dossier for a consultative committee, the appointment of special confidential advisers and an addition to the European Parliament Regulation of an appropriate code of conduct for members of the European Parliament in the workplace.
