Council of the EU. ‘Justice and Home Affairs’ Council (and 05/06). *Justice: - Discussion on extending the directive on the sale of goods to off-line sales. – Re-examination of the Brussels IIa regulation on cross-border questions related to parental responsibility. – Information on the new 2019-2023 online justice strategy. – State of progress in dossier concerning European Public Prosecutor’s Office. – Partial general orientation on insolvency, restructuring and second-chance procedures for businesses. *Justice and Home Affairs: - Examination of the new proposal on digital evidence.

Informal meeting of the agriculture ministers (03-05/06). - Generational renewal of farmers: fitness for purpose of EU measures, particularly in the post-2020 CAP, to attract young people into farming, effectiveness of national measures and of the CAP to tackle problems faced by young farmers - access to land, loans, information and qualifications to remain competitive. – Commission proposals on the future CAP and its budget

Activities of the committees (to 07/06). – TRAN: vote on the social aspects of the first ‘mobility’ package (posting of transport workers, cabotage rules, driving and rest time of drivers and introduction of second-generation smart tachograph). – LIBE: first hearing of the committee for its investigation into the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal. – IMCO: vote on the report on the free movement of non-personal data. – AFET-DEVE-DROI: celebration to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sakharov Prize for the freedom of thought (meetings over three days with winners of the Prize and a number of international figures (and 5 and 6/06). – AGRI-ENVI: public hearing on the theme “origin labelling of agricultural and food products”.

Council of the EU. ‘Justice and Home Affairs’ Council. *Home Affairs: - Stock-take of the reform of the common European asylum regime. – Discussion on the application of the principles of accountability and solidarity. – Examination of the proposal on the reform of the visa code (link between visa policy and readmission of migrants). – Stock-take on the situation on migration routes in the Mediterranean. – Possibility of stepping up cooperation between the anti-terrorism authorities. – Impact of the first political cycle of the EU to tackle major organised crime (2014-2017) and possible improvements for the future.
Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Judgements: - C-220/16 (Wirtschaftsakademie Schleswig-Holstein - Is the administrator of a fan page on Facebook jointly liable, along with Facebook, for the treatment of visitors’ data?). - C-612/15 (Kolev e.a. – Compliance with EU law of a national rule requiring a judge automatically to close criminal proceedings in relation to a customs infringement). – C-673/16 (Coman e.a. - With regard to the freedom of movement of EU citizens and members of their family, does the notion of “spouse” include spouses of the same sex?). #Conclusions: - C-73/17 (France/Parliament – Invalidation of the 2017 general budget of the EU on the grounds that the debates and vote in Parliament took place in Brussels rather than Strasbourg and that the President of Parliament took note of its definitive adoption in Brussels). *General Court of the EU: #Judgement: T-111/16 (Prada/EUIPO – The Rich Prada International – Opposition of the company Prada to the registration of THE RICH PRADA as an EU mark).

Weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners. - Annual management and performance report of the Commission for the EU budget (Oettinger). - Multiannual financial framework: sectorial legislative proposals for the expenditure programmes: European strategic investments (including InvestEU, Connecting Europe Facility, Digital Europe programme) and Space (to be presented on 06/06); research and innovation (including Horizon Europe, ITER and Euratom) (07/06); single market programme, Fiscalis and customs, European Solidarity Corps (Juncker and Oettinger). - Proposed targeted modification of the regulation of the Council on authorising State aid (Katainen). – Visit of the Austrian government to the Commission.

Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Conclusions: - C-186/17 (Flightright - in the framework of a flight with connection booked through a travel agency from a single airline, are passengers entitled to compensation if the first flight, operated by different airline, is late by less than three hours, but is the cause of the delay of more than three hours suffered upon arrival?). C-149/17 (Bastei Lübbe – possibility for an individual to invoke the right to respect for family life to avoid a compensation obligation if a breach of copyright was committed using his or her computer, to which family members have access). *General Court of the EU: #Judgement: T-258/17 BTB Holding Investment and Duferco Participations Holdings/Commission – Cancellation of the Commission’s decision ordering the recovery of €35 million of aid awarded by Belgium to two companies of the Duferco group).

Council of the EU. ‘Transport, Telecommunications and Energy’ Council (and 08/06). *Transport. – General orientations on: proposed regulation aiming to preserve competition in air transport; draft directive on port reception facilities for the deposit of waste from vessels; draft directive on road tolls and the exchange of information; draft directive on the use of rental vehicles. – Progress in the principal proposals concerning access to the market and social aspects in the road transport sector that come under the first raft of measures on mobility (new rules on driving and rest time and on the posting of road workers. – Progress on promoting combined transport and clean road transport vehicles. – State of progress in work on updating the rights of railway passengers.
