01/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – UNTRR – the National Union of Road Hauliers from Romania- sent a letter on Friday 25 May to EU transport ministers to set out its observations on the first mobility package. The letter’s main messages are: not applying the posting of workers system to drivers and liberalisation of road transport. The organisation says one cannot today consider equal pay for equal work because companies in Western and Eastern Europe are not paid in the same fashion. With some twenty or so organisations active in transport, UNTRR has also sent a letter to MEPs in this regard. The letters come at a time when MEPs on the European Parliament’s transport committee will be voting on texts on 4 June and ministers will be meeting in Luxembourg on 7 June (see related article).
