07/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 8 May, the national ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) will attempt to reach a unanimous agreement on the financing details for the second tranche of the refugee facility, which stands at €3 billion for 2018 and 2019 (see EUROPE 12015). The Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU is reportedly maintaining its proposal to base this financial effort from the EU budget in the amount of €2 billion, through a considerable budgetary redeployment effort, and from the member states in the amount of €1 billion. A €1.75 - €1.25 billion split was discussed at one point. The member states stress that their contribution will not be made before 2019. (MB)
