07/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – A year from the European elections, Eurocities, which represents a vast network of cities and capitals, launched the Cities4Europe campaign on Monday 7 May with a view to launching a dialogue with European citizens on the future of the EU. The objective is to bring together citizens and political decision makers in order to reflect on new ways of decision making, so as to restore the EU's "legitimacy", the press release states. The campaign will last for a year and the initial recommendations will be given at the annual Eurocities conference, in Edinburgh on 28 and 30 November. This initiative is added to that conducted by the Committee of the Regions (see EUROPE 11718) and the citizen consultations in which the Economic and Social Committee takes part (see EUROPE 12012).
