07/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 7 May, the Specialist Chambers of Kosovo, based in the Hague in the Netherlands, announced the appointment of Jack Smith as the new Specialist Prosecutor (Chief Prosecutor) of the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office (SPO). Smith follows David Schwendiman, who vacated the position on 31 March 2018. The SPO was established in September 2016 to carry out investigations into the allegations contained in the Marty report in January 2011 (see EUROPE 11065). This report focuses on, among other things, the allegations of the trafficking of the organs of 500 Serbian and Roma prisoners during the war. (CG)
