25/04/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 25 April, Parliament’s employment and social affairs committee adopted by a large majority (38 votes for, 14 votes against, 2 abstentions) the agreement on the posted workers directive. In a tweet, Elisabeth Morin-Chartier, the co-rapporteur on the subject welcomed the fact that “70% are in favour of a balanced agreement for a social Europe!” MEPs from the ECR and ENF voted unanimously against it. Three MEPs from the Central and Eastern European ALDE delegations also voted against, including the shadow rapporteur, Martina Dlabajová (Czech Republic). Three Polish EPP MEPs also voted against, including Danuta Jazłowiecka, the former rapporteur for the implementing directive on posted workers. João Pimenta Lopes (GUE/NGL, Portugal) also voted against. The text is expected to be put to a vote in plenary in May or June, according to the speed with which the linguist legal team complete their work. (PH)
