19/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – A total of 78 MEPs from the GUE/NGL, the EPP, the S&D, including Cécile Kyenge, the Greens/EFA and ALDE Groups who are members of the anti-racism and diversity intergroup (ARDI) called, in a letter to European Parliament President Antonio Tajani on Wednesday 14 March, for measures to be taken against MEP Marcel de Graaff (ENF, Netherlands), whom they accuse of Islamophobic hate speech for his comments that the EU is being taken back to the Middle Ages by Islam which he equates with inequality, polygamy, slavery and honour crimes. These comments are unacceptable, the MEPs argue and they call on Tajani to take urgent action under Parliament’s rules of procedure. (SP)
