19/03/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European side has agreed on the organisational and functioning rules of the monitoring committee of the Economic Partnership agreement (EPA), in force provisionally between the EU and Côte d'Ivoire since September 2016. The Council's decision was adopted without debate on 15 March. The draft internal regulation states, amongst other things, that the EPA committee will be made up of representatives of members of the Council of the EU and the European Commission, alongside representatives and Côte d'Ivoire at ministerial or senior civil service level. It will be chaired on an alternating basis for one year at a time by a representative of the EU and a representative of Côte d'Ivoire. Representatives of the WAEMU Commission and ECOWAS may be invited to attend the meetings to be called by the presidency. (AN)
