14/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – During a meeting with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah, on Tuesday 13 February, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini acknowledged "the valuable role played by Kuwait as regional mediator, including in the context of the crisis in the Gulf", and she reiterated the European Union’s support to Kuwait's mediation. Mogherini also reiterated the EU's appreciation for Kuwait's support to Iraq and the Iraqi people including by hosting the international conference for the reconstruction of Iraq – on the sidelines of which they met, in particular to discuss ways to ensure follow up of the conference. Mogherini and Sheikh Sabah al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah also welcomed the intensification of bilateral relations between the EU and Kuwait and committed to continue their close cooperation. (CG)
