14/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 14 February, the European Commission proposed the appointment of Boštjan Jazbec to the position of director of resolution planning and decisions of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) for a non-renewable term of five years. Jazbec, a Slovenian civil servant, has a seat as governor of the Bank of Slovenia and has been a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank since 2013. He also holds the position of governor for Slovenia at the International Monetary Fund. He was selected from a shortlist of candidates drawn up in December 2017 to replace Joanne Kellerman of the Netherlands, who announced her decision to leave the SRB in August of last year (see EUROPE 11905). The decision must now be put to the European Parliament for its approval, ahead of his formal appointment by the Council of the EU. (MF)
