14/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a press release on Tuesday 13 February, the Catalan parliament announced that its President, Roger Torrent, would submit an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, so that the previously deposed president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, could be part of the investiture debate, which aims to reintroduce the Presidency of this autonomous community. The date of this appeal has not yet been mentioned but it has been submitted in a personal capacity by Mr Torrent who will subsequently request MPs at the Catalan Parliament to join this initiative. The investiture ceremony of the future regional Catalan President was postponed on 30 January last. Puigdemont is at risk of being arrested if he travels to the regional parliament from Brussels, where he is currently residing. The Spanish Constitutional Court vetoed a video conference investiture on 27 January. (LT)
