Commission publishes guidelines to help member states in tender procedures for EU-funded projects

On Tuesday 13 February, the European Commission published new guidelines to help the public authorities put in place efficient and transparent public procurement procedures for projects financed out of European funds.

These guidelines are exhaustive and the Commission indicated that they cover “the process from A to Z, from the preparation and publication of the calls to the selection and evaluation of bids and the contract implementation”.

The Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, said this kind of procedural support is essential in order to avoid making mistakes and to, "ensure the maximum impact of each euro the EU spends, for the direct benefit of citizens".

This guide therefore provides advice on good practices, drafting model calls for tender and taking full advantage of the instruments provided by the public authorities.

Although this document is currently only available in English, the European Commission explains that it will soon be put online in all officials European Union languages.
