Tit for tat at WTO between Russia and EU over Russia's embargo on EU pork

On Wednesday 7 February the EU requested the opening of consultations with Russia at the WTO over Russia’s compliance with the ruling of the WTO’s dispute settlement panel of March 2017, which found the health embargo imposed by Russia since January 2014 on EU pork exports in connection with African swine fever in Lithuania and Poland to be unlawful (DS 475).

Russia issued the same procedure on 30 January, arguing the contrary.  If the two parties fail to find a compromise, a new WTO...
