Foodwatch speaks out on downsides of free trade negotiated by EU with Japan, Mercosur, Vietnam, Mexico and Indonesia

In a study unveiled on Wednesday 7 February, the consumer defence NGO Foodwatch highlights the "disastrous scenario" of the content of the free trade agreements that the EU is negotiating with Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico and Mercosur – and it calls for all these talks to be suspended.

These trade agreements go well beyond a simple opening of markets and reduction in customs tariffs.  Just like the free trade agreement with Canada (CETA) and the draft free trade agreement on hold...
