02/02/2018 (Agence Europe) – Chief EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier will travel to London on Monday 5 February to begin a fresh round of talks with the UK’s Brexit minister, David Davis (see other article). The talks will take place in Brussels from Tuesday 6 and, until Thursday 8 February, will continue the technical discussions on the first phase of the divorce, including on the issue of the Irish border and the transition period after the 27 member states gave Barnier a mandate on Monday 29 January (see EUROPE 11949). The round will conclude on 9 February with, inter alia, discussion of what the United Kingdom wants from the future relationship with the EU. The European side will listen to what the UK government has to say, after Davis spoke of important announcements. (SP)
