16/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – At the end of her meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir on Monday 15 January, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini welcomed "Saudi Arabia's willingness to strengthen its relationship with the European Union", mentioning "the establishment of a Saudi Mission solely accredited to the European Union and the setup of a new EU department in the Saudi Foreign Ministry". During their meeting, an EEAS press release states that Mogherini "referred to the strategic nature of the bilateral relationship" and discussed "ways to further deepen the EU-Saudi Arabia policy dialogue and sectoral cooperation". They also exchanged views – not always united – on the Middle East peace process, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, the Iranian nuclear deal, the Sahel and the Gulf Cooperation Council. (CG)
