Commission calls on Ryanair to respect rules on airline passenger rights

18/09/2017 (Agence Europe)On Monday 18 September, Enrico Brivio, the Spokesperson for the European Commissioner for Transport made an appeal during a press conference for Ryanair to respect European Union rules on air passenger rights, particularly those included in regulation 261/2004. The airline has decided to cancel almost 2,000 flights up until the end of October. In the event of a flight cancellation, Mr Brivio pointed out that passengers can, according to certain conditions, be reimbursed, receive alternative journeys or compensation. The spokesperson also reasserted that it was up to the national authorities to ensure that these rules were fully respected. On the other hand, he was unwilling to make any comment regarding the choices made by the company to cancel the flights and said that this decision was up to the company itself. (LT)
