13/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 July, the European Commission announced that it was taking Croatia to the European Court of Justice for failing to transpose directive 2014/67 for the implementation of the 96/71 directive on posted workers. It criticised the member state for having failed to communicate measures to the Commission undertaken at a national level to transpose the said directive. In its press release, the Commission points out that Croatia is the only member state in this situation. The Commission sent Croatia a letter of formal notice in September 2016 and a reasoned opinion in February 2017 (see EUROPE 11630). It should be recalled that the implementing directive should have been transposed into international law by 18 July 2016 at the latest. (PH)
