13/07/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 12 July, the member states agreed at ambassador level to renew the European Union Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) in Libya until 31 December 2018, a European source told EUROPE. The ambassadors also decided to add a planning task to the mission – which will take part in a comprehensive process of planning reform of the civil security sector, with a view to preparing a possible common security and defence policy (CSDP) civilian mission. The decision to renew and amend the mission is expected to be taken officially at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on 17 July. The mission's current mandate runs until 21 August 2017. (CG)
