12/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – Therese Comodini Cachia (EPP, Malta) will indeed leave her post as an MEP and take up a position as a Member of Parliament in her country. She will therefore be leaving one of the most important dossiers in the single digital market strategy: reform of copyright rules. The EPP group is therefore expected to appoint a new rapporteur in charge of negotiations, on the basis of the report drafted by Ms Comodini Cachia. Several names have so far been mooted: Constance Le Grip (France) is that the top of the list but is currently involved in the French elections. The other potential replacement could be Axel Voss from Belgium. It should be pointed out that the draft report by Ms Comodini Cachia is opposed to creating a new neighbouring law for newspaper publishers. (SPj)
