12/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The European Patents Office (EPO) has been voted the best of the world’s five largest patents offices in the latest annual benchmarking study by International Asset Management (IAM) magazine, a press release from the agency revealed on 8 June. Overall, more than 90% of specialist respondents considered the services of the EPO to be “good”, “very good” or “excellent”. EPO President Benoît Battistelli welcomed the results which, he said, “underline that the EPO has maintained high quality work while also managing to issue 40% more granted patents in 2016”. The other patents offices were the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the Korean IP Office (KIPO), China’s State IP Office (SIPO) and the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). (PH)
