08/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Transport Council adopted its conclusions on Thursday 8 June on EU maritime transport policy until 2020 (see EUROPE 11803), endorsing the Valletta Declaration of 29 March of this year. European Union transport ministers confirmed the policy priorities contained in the Valletta Declaration (see EUROPE 11760) signed after an inter-ministerial conference. Council, therefore, again set out the three priorities of maritime transport policy: competitiveness, decarbonisation and digitalisation. Council calls on the Commission to work with the member states and the social partners to undertake appropriate initiatives and achieve the targets set in the declaration by 2020. (LT)
