Council agrees on budgetisation of 2016 surplus

08/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – In Luxembourg on Thursday 8 June, the Council Ministers of the EU adopted its position on draft amending budget no. 2 2017 on the budgetisation of the 2016 surplus. The execution of the 2016 financial year presents a surplus of €6.4 billion (see EUROPE 11768). The budgetisation of this surplus will reduce the overall contribution of the member states to the financing of the EU budget in 2017 by the same amount.
