06/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – This autumn, the European Commission is seeking to develop an effective and balanced enforcement system against commercial scale infringements of copyright. This was announced by vice president, Andrus Ansip, during a press briefing on the agenda relating to the midterm review of the single digital market strategy. It was organised as part of the Culture Council that took part at the end of May. We were informed by a source close to the dossier that the vice president had not ruled out legislative proposals. He is also said to have announced that the Commission would be signing a voluntary agreement with the technology sector and advertising agencies next July. In this agreement, signatories make a commitment to preventing advertising on sites that fail to respect copyright. (SPj)
