06/06/2017 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani (EPP, Italy) and his counterpart at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Georges Dassis from Greece, made an announcement during the EESC plenary session on 1 June in which they called for greater formal and informal cooperation between the two institutions. Mr Tajani indicated that he wanted to focus their cooperation on three specific areas: youth unemployment, migration and terrorism. Luca Jahier, the Chairperson of the Various Interests Group (Group III), called for Mr Tajani to present a detailed programme as soon as possible, for putting place a common communication strategy in the perspective of the forthcoming European elections in 2019.
