15/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – A telephone operator whose subscribers have given their consent for their data to be included in a public telephone directory, is obliged to make this data available to a provider of telephone information and directory services, including those established in another member state, according to a ruling made by the European Court of Justice. In its decision made on Wednesday 15 March (C-536/15), the Court also concluded that this kind of transmission of data did not require further consent of the subscriber, due to the fact that the regulatory framework in this sector is largely harmonised and provides an appropriate level of personal data protection.
