In a letter to High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on Tuesday 14 March, the leader of the European Parliament's ALDE Group, Guy Verhofstadt, urges her to put the rule of law and human rights at the centre of the EU's partnership with Egypt. The EU and Egypt are expected to adopt their partnership "priorities" for 2017-2020 in early April.
