06/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – The White Paper on The Future of the European Union, published in hardcopy in English on Wednesday 1 March by the European Union, contains several clarifications to the online version (see EUROPE 11736). The Europe Today graph on page seven mentioned the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) as Macedonia, a name that Greece categorically rejects. Another graph on public spending on defence was mistakenly attributed to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Commission scenario No. four (doing less but doing it more efficiently) envisages the development of a Union of Defence, whereas scenario No. three (the Europe of avant-gardes) only mentions increased cooperation in this area with countries that want it.
