06/03/2017 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 3 March, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini told the Serbian Parliament that Serbia was a bridge between the West and Russia. Aware that Serbia had always lived at the crossroads of different worlds, and that the traditional labels of 'East' and 'West' had never been enough for the country, Mogherini said that this made Serbia the pivot between worlds and cultures, in constant dialogue with both parties, going beyond the fault lines of the past and present. Attacked by pro-Russian Serbian members of parliament with cries of "Serbia! Russia! We don't need the EU!", Mogherini stated that accession to the EU was not a declaration of hostility against anyone. (CG)
