On Saturday 4 March, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini called on the Kosovan Parliament to vote for the ratification of the agreement demarcating the border with Montenegro – one of the conditions for the liberalisation of visas for the people of Kosovo.
"I believe (...) that political parties have clear in mind that when it comes to the interests of the people, on something very concrete such as visa liberalisation, they have the responsibility to overcome the politics of the political debate and jointly and constructively look for ways to agree on what can make Kosovo advance", Mogherini said at a press conference with Kosovo's Prime Minister Isa Mustafa. She said she was confident that the political parties could find a way to agree on having this agreement ratified. "If the Assembly will proceed to vote with the ratification of the demarcation agreement, we will be able to move forward very fast, and with that, very concrete results for all the citizens will come", she added.
In Mogherini's view, while no progress on the demarcation has been recorded in a year, progress has nevertheless been made over the same period on the other condition – the fight against organised crime and corruption. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
