European Parliament endorses systematic controls of all travellers at EU's external borders

All EU citizens and third country nationals entering or leaving the Schengen area and EU will be subject to systematic controls involving police database checks, such as the Schengen Information System and the one used for lost or stolen travel documents, in accordance with a regulation adopted by the European Parliament on Thursday 16 February in Strasbourg (see EUROPE 11683).

The new regulation amends the Schengen Border Code and was presented by the European Commission in December 2015....
