13/02/2017 (Agence Europe) – On an official visit to Brussels on Monday 13 February, Uganda's Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa was assured of the EU's continuing political and financial support to his country, which is playing a key role in the region. His meetings with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini focused on the challenges in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region. Kutesa was hailed for the generosity shown by his country, which houses the biggest camp for refugees and asylum seekers in the world – especially for those from South Sudan. Kutesa's meeting with European Commissioner for Development Neven Mimica enabled the two of them to confirm their joint commitment to implementing the global sustainable development goals (SDGs). (AN)
