Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström travelled to Kiev in the afternoon of Thursday 12 November, where she is due to meet Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and Economy and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius. Central to discussions are likely to be the implementation, with effect from 1 January 2016, of the agreement on an EU-Ukraine free-trade area and the related reforms. A further tripartite ministerial meeting with Russia to discuss Russian concerns over the EU-Ukraine free-trade agreement is still expected between now and the start of December. (EH)
