12/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Three rail freight corridors operational. In line with the regulation on a European rail network for competitive freight (No 913/2010), which seeks to put in place a competitive network in the EU, the Commission announced on Tuesday 10 November that the Scandinavia-Mediterranean, Baltic-Adriatic and North Sea-Baltic corridors are now operational. In November 2013, the Commission announced that six rail freight corridors were up and running (see EUROPE 10960). Freight corridors are at the heart of implementation of the core network corridors as part of the single European rail freight area and are co-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). (PH)
