12/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - Ratification of updated aviation products list opened. The WTO committee on trade in civil aircraft adopted a protocol on Thursday 5 November updating the products list of the civil aircraft agreement and bringing it into line with the 2007 version of the “harmonised system” developed by the World Customs Organisation (WCO). The harmonised system is an international nomenclature arranged in six-digit codes allowing all participating countries to classify traded goods on a common basis. The protocol is now open for ratification by the 32 signatories (which include the EU) of the WTO civil aircraft agreement which came into force on 1 January 1980. This agreement eliminates import duties on civil aircraft-related products, such as engines, radar, flight recorders and ground flight simulators, and contains disciplines on matters such as government-directed procurement of civil aircraft.
