Parliament wants strong and politically independent European prosecutor's office

Brussels, 30/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 30 April in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted the interim report by Monica Macovei (EPP, Romania) on the proposal for the European Prosecutor's Office. 487 voted in favour, 165 against, with 33 abstentions. In this report, MEPs highlight the fact that the prosecutor's office should fight European budget fraud and be fully independent from national governments and the European institutions and subject to democratic control.
